Highly Skilled Administrators Who Work Closely With Lawyers
The Legal Assisting Program is designed mainly for college graduates and persons who are seeking or are already employed in a law office or a field related to the legal profession. It is also ideal for developing a new career path in the legal profession. Legal assistants are highly skilled administrators who work closely with lawyers on a wide variety of legal matters.
Students are trained in oral and written communications, transcription, computer applications with a focus on legal document preparation and law office procedures. In addition, students take courses in many areas of law, including: corporate, criminal, family, litigation, real estate, and wills and estates. Faculty bring extensive experience as lawyers and legal assistants and offer students a highly practical and enriched learning experience.
Graduates are trained to assume duties which are routinely performed by attorneys, including how to prepare legal documentation for real estate, civil litigation, wills and estates, domestic and family law, business, and appeals. Complete in 12 months!
Prerequisite: An Associate or Bachelors Degree
Benefits
Students will be able to competently assist attorneys in handing various legal matters, including legal research, analysis and interpretation and the composition and drafting of legal documentation, among other things. An Associate or Bachelors Degree is a prerequisite for admission.
